being social Classes for Teens
Being Social is a class for youth ages 13-18 who want to feel more confident and comfortable in social situations. Some of the topics we will address are conversation skills, developing friendships, addressing bullying and using humor appropriately.
Being Social for Young Adults
The young adult group are for those who graduated high school and want to increase their skills and confidence in social situations. Some of the topics we will talk about are electronic communication, friendships, dating, using humor, and handling disagreements.
Parent Assisted Model for
Being Social Classes include at least one parent or caregiver who become social coaches. The class meets for fifty minutes. Afterward, parents join for a ten minute wrap up and instructions on how to support their teen on out of class assignments.
About the Curriculum
All class enrollments start with a phone call to see if the class is appropriate for each participant. If it seems that Being Social would be helpful, an in-person meeting is set to assess their social cognitive level and to identify best class grouping for the student.
